Pioneer KURO PDP-5020FD Review
Pioneer KURO PDP-5020FD - A great HDTV!
A member of the distinguished Kuro line from Pioneer, the PDP-5020FD is an extra-ordinary HDTV that delivers top-notch and unrivaled performance. Pioneer proves that it reigns supreme when it comes to the large plasmas, though high-quality does come with a hefty tag. The PDP-5020FD is in fact the cheapest in the Kuro series for this year, yet it still costs much more than competing brands.
Design
Pioneer maintained the unadorned look of its plasmas in the PDP-5020FD - a shiny black frame surrounding the screen with a removable speaker at the panel’s bottom. The clean sheer look is perfect, though the screen is not flushed with the frame, leaving a thin strip that reflects bright lights that may become distracting. Moreover, this set comes with a solid-looking, non-swiveling stand that limits viewing to only one position. Read more
Panasonic Viera TH-46PZ85U Review

Panasonic Viera TH-46PZ85U
This high-performing HDTV is one of the cornerstone products from Panasonic that helped the brand capture a large segment of the plasma market. With impressive picture quality and more affordable price relative to competing high-end plasmas, the Viera TH-46PZ85U is certainly a great alternative for practical buyers.
Panasonic Viera TH-42PX80U Review
Panasonic Viera TH-42PX80U - An excellent entry-level plasma HDTV!
If you’re looking for a nice entry-level plasma HDTV, the Viera TH-42PX80U could just be the product for you. It is a step below the higher-end Panasonic plasmas and sports fewer features, but with its affordable price tag and reasonably good picture quality, it certainly gives bang for the buck.
Design
The TH-42PX80U presents a plain but pleasant-looking design that is just perfect for first-time plasma owners. The uniformly-thick glossy black bezel borders the screen, with the lower part subtly curved downward to form its accent. Below the curved lower frame is a matte strip that conceals the speakers and a flip-up latch that hides some controls and input slots. Like other Panasonic products, this set lacks a pedestal and instead, a low non-swivelling stand is provided.
LG 47LG60 Review
The LG 47LG60
Though a big player in the consumer electronics industry, LG lags behind and still needs to catch-up with market leaders Sony and Samsung in the HDTV niche. Even so, LG often manages to produce some eye-catching and impressive HDTV enough to earn accolades, such as the superb 47LG60.
Design
Part of the Scarlet line, the 47LG60 inevitably contains the crimson red trim that is the distinguishing character of the LG HDTV line. A relatively thin bezel in glossy black surrounds the screen, with an eye-catching - and interesting - ‘hole’ design at the center of the bottom frame. The red accent covers the TV’s backside, as well as the edge of the mirrored pedestal. Consumers would either love or hate the scarlet theme, but undoubtedly, the 47LG60 is one of the better-looking HDTVs this year.
Unfortunately, the striking design wasn’t extended to the remote. The curved design of previous clickers was ditched in favor of a linear, narrower shape, with a textured finish. Read more
Sony Bravia KDL-52XBR6 Review

Sony Bravia KDL-52XBR6 - One of the Best HDTV’s
One of the latest models released in 2008, the KDL-52XBR6 belongs to the top-of-the-line Bravias, though in the least pricey (non-LED) series in that elite group. Equipped with some of Sony’s new technologies, this HDTV is quite expensive compared to other similarly sized sets, but costs much less than the really high-end LED-powered sets which command over-the-top tags.
Design
The KDL-52XBR6 is thinner than earlier HDTVs, but it isn’t as sleek as the ultra-thin models of other brands, or the more compact Z series Bravias. A glossy black frame surrounds the screen, and a see-through plastic that supports the speaker is placed at the bottom of the panel. The speaker grille is colored silver along with the non-swiveling pedestal, though the former can be replaced by buying a grille in black, brown, red, or gold to match the home décor.
