Sanyo HDTV
Sanyo is another reliable name in the consumer electronics industry, though it definitely needs to catch-up with the leaders in the HDTV market, both in development and marketing aspects. The company offers both LCD and plasma products, but the selection it provides is too limited, which may be the reason why company sales aren’t encouraging. Sanyo also used to manufacture weatherproof and waterproof HDTVs a couple of years back, but it seems the company has now focused on home use HDTVs rather than commercial ones.
Sanyo LCD HDTVs are either full 1080p HD resolution (848 series) or HD-ready (647 or Vizzon series) in 720p or 900p resolutions. The former are the premium lines, which boasts of 3D Y/C Digital Comb Filter for exceptional colors and image clarity, combined analogue and digital tuner for terrestrial signals, picture-in-picture capability, digital audio stereo sound, and multi-connectivity, including three HDMI ports. The Vizzon series LCD are more or less similar to the 848 series, except in their native resolutions.
The lone plasma TV in the current Sanyo line-up (DP50747) also has basically the same features, except its 720 progressive scanning of pixels and higher contrast (10,000:1. which is much higher than the 1,500:1 of the LCDs). Sanyo also has two TVs models (HT30547 and HT27547) which are Standard Definition Digital TVs (SDTVs). These TVs are not high-definition but are perfect transition to digital TVs for those who can’t afford HDTVs or aren’t ready for high-def at this time.
